NSU Day of Champions

The 9th annual
"Day of Champions"
took place Saturday, April 16th.

In 2011, over 150 Northern State University athletes and coaches spent a labor intense day working for non-profits, communities and schools, monetarily contributing $25,000 worth of labor.  Tom Agnitsch, Executive Director of the United Way of Northern South Dakota and Coach Tom Dosch, head football coach at NSU serve as Co-Chairs of the event.  The United Way of Northeastern South Dakota spearheaded the project finding  9 projects based on need and merit.

  • New Beginnings Center

  • Volunteers of America

A big thank you goes to the Aberdeen Sertoma Club, Thrivent Financial for Lutherans , Subway and Pepsi of Aberdeen who have helped sponsor food and drink since the first Day of Champions.  Another big thank you goes out to Twist Cone for giving proceeds of ice cream sales for the day to help fund project materials costs.  We want to thank Ride-Line and Lager's/The Zoo for providing transportation for the athletes. Last but not least thanks to Dakota Broadcasting, Hub City radio, the American News and the Mayor and City Council for the great publicity leading up to the event.
