Those You Help

Your contribution helps to fund 39 programs through 20 agencies

 

Crisis & Emergency Services

American Red Cross - Brown County Chapter ~ To provide relief to victims of disaster and help people prevent, prepare for, and respond to emergencies.  

    Programs: Disaster Services (assistance, mitigation, and training); Armed Forces Emergency Services; and Education (First Aid, CPR, Water Safety, Aids, Foundation for Caring).

Lutheran Social Services ~ To care for, support and strengthen individuals, families and communities. ~ www.lsssd.org

    Programs: Aberdeen Counseling Center, New Beginnings Center, and Consumer Credit Counseling.

Northeastern Mental Health Center ~ To provide a comprehensive array of mental health services performed by qualified professionals and serving residents without regard to their ability to pay.

    Programs: Community Based Services.

Safe Harbor ~ To assist women, children, and men during crisis situations and to provide resources for making positive life choices. ~ http://www.safeharbor.ws

    Programs: Visitation Center "Kids Konnection" and Crisis Intervention.

The Salvation Army ~ To preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without discrimination.

    Programs: Material Economic Assistance; Area Food Services; Community Center Services; and Emergency & Disaster Services.

Volunteers of America ~ A non-profit, spiritually based organization that reaches out to empower people of all ages to become healthier, self-sufficient, productive members of their communities. 

     Programs: Family Crisis Intervention Program.

 

Family & Senior Services

Aberdeen Area Child & Adolescent Services System Program ~ To assure that services provided to children with special needs and their families are coordinated, unified, readily accessible and holistic.

    Programs: Project Ahead; Birth to 3 Tracking; and Flexible funding for Families.

Aberdeen Area Senior Center ~ To provide quality programming in the areas of health, education, finances, and general social issues for all its members. ~ www.aberdeen.sd.us/senior/senior.html

    Programs: Activities and Meals on Wheels.

Aberdeen Ride-Line ~ To provide safe, efficient transportation to the general public in and around the Aberdeen area and to provide specialized service for those people who need assistance for wheelchairs, walkers, or specialized mobility units. ~ www.aberdeen.sd.us/ride/ride.html

    Program: Transportation Assistance to Disabled People

Foster Grandparent Program ~ To enable low-income persons aged sixty and over to remain physically and mentally active and to enhance their self-esteem through participation in needed community services.

Retired Senior Volunteer Program ~ To recruit, support, and provide volunteer opportunities and experiences for persons over 55 years of age. ~ www.aberdeenrsvp.com

Senior Companion Program ~ Helps the frail elderly and disabled to remain in their homes and provides meaningful service opportunities to low income seniors for a tax-free stipend.

 

Health & Rehabilitation Services

SPURS Therapeutic Riding Center ~ To provide opportunities for growth through horse related activities for people with disabilities and children who are disadvantaged.

 

Youth Development Services

Boys & Girls Club of Aberdeen ~ To assure and enhance the quality of life for boys and girls, ages K-18, as participating members of a richly diverse society.

    Programs: Education and Club Activities.

Aberdeen Family YMCA ~ To put Christian principles into practice through programs that build a healthy Spirit, mind, and body.

    Programs: Camp Dream-Makers, Youth Programs, Learning Tree, Dolly Parton Imagination Library, and After the Bell.

Girl Scouts - Dakota Horizons ~ To inspire girls to the highest ideals of character, conduct, patriotism, and service that they may become happy and resourceful citizens. ~ www.nyodagirlscouts.org

    Programs: Girl Services and Resident Camp

Boy Scouts - Sioux Council ~ To prepare young people to make ethical choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law. ~ www.siouxbsa.org 

Tiger Post Community Education Center ~ To formulate, plan, and develop out of school time programming for youth and adults in the Ipswich School District.

     Programs:  After School Program and Summer Program.

Volunteer Service Clearinghouse ~ To connect promote volunteering people with opportunities to serve, to build the capacity for effective local volunteering, to and to participate in strategic initiatives. ~ www.northern.edu/clearinghouse/  

     Programs: Recruitment & Referral, and Student Service & Leadership.
